1st day in Munich

Finally made it in to Munich.  Did not get any sleep on the plane so am really suffering from jet lag.  We could not check in to our hotel right away so we went on a bus/walking tour of Munich.  Coming in to the city I got to see where the 1972 Olympics were held.  I also saw the headquarters of Mercedes Benz.  We then went to the Glockenspiel at Marienplatz because at noon it does its little dance.  We also went to Hofbräuhaus- which is a German beer hall.  We then went to Nymphenburg Palace that was built in 1662 by Ferdinand Maria for his wife Henriette Adelaide for giving him a son.  IT IS HUGE!!!!  Very beautiful inside and the back court yard is unbelievable.  I have some pictures of the days events.  We are going tonight as a group to an authentic Munich restaurant and the main dish is pigs nuckle.  Not sure if I will try it.  Tomorrow we are going to a realschule to visit.  Am anxious to visit and give my gifts to the students (pencils from Pioneer- thanks for the donation!)  I hope to get some good sleep tonight!  Oh by the way, IT IS COLD HERE.  55 degrees today!  That means that we went from 105 in D.C to 55 here!!
